Shisa and Nohashi lock up to start. They fight over a wristlock. Shisa gains control with a hammerlock. He puts on a pair of head scissors. Mochizuki and Hayato trade kicks. Mochizuki hits a back kick. Hayato returns the favor. Mochizuki hits the apron kick. Shisa hits European uppercuts. He puts on the Mexican surfboard. Mochizuki hits a chest kick for 2. Nohashi puts on a chinlock. He puts on the Mark Nulty Special. He hits a headbutt to the back. Hayato hits a face kick for 2. Shisa hits a dropkick on Nohashi. Mochizuki hits a missile dropkick on Hayato and the Sankakugeri and Nohashi. Shisa hits a suicide dive on Nohashi. Mochizuki hits Hayato with an ax kick. Hayato hits chest kicks. He hits a Yakuza kick. Mochizuki returns the favor. They exchange mirror high kicks. Nohashi hits Shisa with an elbow. He hits a diving basement dropkick for 2. Shisa hits a hurricanrana. Mochizuki hits a back kick. He hits a chest kick for 2. He sweeps the leg and hits another chest kick. He hits a back heel kick and a buzzsaw kick for 2. Shisa goes for the Yoshi Tonic but Hayato saves Nohashi with a thrust kick. Hayato hits Shisa with a running knee for 2. He hits an implant DDT and Nohashi hits a diving headbutt. Hayato hits a chest kick for 2. Nohashi dropkicks Mochizuki to the floor and hits a suicide dive. Shisa rolls Hayato up for 2. He hits a legsweep for 2. Hayato hits a kneelift for 2. He puts on a guillotine choke for the win at 12:49. This hit a plateau about ten minutes in, but it was consistent enough to warrant a look.

Masaaki Mochizuki & Super Shisa vs. Gedo & Jado [Round Robin Tournament Match]
Shisa and Gedo start. They fight over a wristlock. Shisa uses the opportunity to show off skills he normally doesn’t get to display in Dragon Gate and Gedo uses the opportunity to swear a lot in English. Mochizuki trades kicks for Jado’s chops. He hits the apron kick. Shisa dropkicks Gedo and hits Jado with a head scissor takedown on the floor. Mochizuki puts Jado in a leglock. Jado gets to the ropes. Shisa works the leg. Jado goes to the eyes. Gedo chokes Shisa in the corner. He and Jado hit a double shoulder tackle for 2. Gedo chokes Shisa. This is getting boring. Jado hits a back suplex for 2. Shisa rebounds through the ropes and dropkicks Jado’s knee. Jado hits a lariat for 2. Mochizuki finally tags in and cleans house. Gedo’s selling is awesome. Mochizuki hits Jado with a chest kick for 2. Jado gets a takedown and puts on the crossface. Mochizuki gets to the ropes. Shisa tags in and gets caught in the crossface. Mochizuki makes the save. Shisa puts both opponents in an abdominal stretch. He hits Gedo with a butterfly suplex for 2. He hits European uppercuts. Gedo hits a superkick for 2. He hits a chinbreaker and Jado hits a lariat. That gets 2. Shisa counters a superbomb to a hurricanrana. Mochizuki hits the Sankakugeri. He hits the Ikkakugeri. Shisa hits the Yoshi Tonic for the win at 14:41. Jado and Gedo’s control segment was very dull and lasted most of the match. The Dragon Gate guys were seriously devalued in route to getting what has to be considered a fluke win.

Masaaki Mochizuki & Super Shisa vs. AKIRA & KUSHIDA [Round Robin Tournament Match]
Shisa and AKIRA start. They fight over a wristlock. A snapmare sequence breaks out. Mochizuki hits KUSHIDA with a shoulder tackle. He hits a back kick. He hits a bodyslam. Shisa blocks an armdrag and a dropkick. He works the leg. He stretches KUSHIDA out. Mochizuki helps him make a wish. He hits a shinbreaker and a leg kick. He puts on a leglock. KUSHIDA gets to the ropes. KUSHIDA starts to fight back so Mochizuki kicks the leg. KUSHIDA hits a dropkick. AKIRA tags in and cleans house with dropkicks. He hits a missile dropkick for 2. He puts on a Regal Stretch but Shisa makes the save. KUSHIDA sends Shisa to the floor. He and AKIRA hit Mochizuki with a double dropkick. He hits a plancha. In the ring Shisa hits AKIRA with a hurricanrana. AKIRA hits Mochizuki with an enziguiri. Mochizuki hits a chest kick for 2. He hits the Twister for 2. Shisa hits European uppercuts. KUSHIDA gets a crucifix pin for 2. He gets a small package for 2. AKIRA saves him from the Yoshi Tonic. He and KUSHIDA hit a standing moonsault/Superfly Splash combo. KUSHIDA hits a corkscrew moonsault for the win at 12:25. This was about as run-of-the-mill as it gets.

Masaaki Mochizuki & Super Shisa vs. Koji Kanemoto & Tiger Mask [Round Robin Tournament Match]
Shisa is finally wearing his awesome dark gear. He and Mask start. They trade holds on the mat. They trade monkey flips and roll ups. Kanemoto and Mochizuki trade leg kicks. They show each other respect. Kanemoto attacks Shisa from behind and pulls him to Mask. Mask hits a vertical suplex for 2. He puts on the Mark Nulty Special. Shisa gets to the ropes. Kanemoto puts on a half crab. Mochizuki makes the save. Kanemoto treats Mochizuki like a jobber. He hits Shisa with a back kick. He washes Shisa’s face. Shisa puts on an anklelock but Kanemoto is in the ropes. Kanemoto hits a chest kick. Mask hits a kneedrop. He puts on a Camel Clutch while Kanemoto hits chest kicks. They sandwich Shisa with kicks for 2. Shisa hits Mask with a dropkick. Mochizuki this Kanemoto with a missile dropkick. He hits Mask with the Sankakugeri. Shisa hits a suicide dive. Mochizuki hits Kanemoto with a chest kick. Kanemoto no-sells it and puts on an anklelock. Mochizuki counters the hold. He gets a pin for 2. Kanemoto reapplies the hold but Shisa makes the save. Mochizuki and Kanemoto engage in mirror strikes. Shisa and Mask trade roll ups. Mask hits a powerbomb. Mochizuki hits the Ikkakugeri. Shisa gets a sunset flip for 2. Mask hits a Tombstone Piledriver for 2. He goes for a superplex but Shisa falls to the floor. Mask hits a German suplex and puts on an armbar for the win at 11:50. It’s a shame that the finish was botched, because they were kicking the crap out of each other here. Too bad the crowd never bought the Dragon Gate team as a threat. Might have something to do with Kanemoto treating them like complete losers.

With only one win in the round robin tournament Mochizuki & Shisa didn’t make it to the finals, and so they joined a few of New Japan’s biggest starts in six-man tag action.
Masaaki Mochizuki, Super Shisa & Satoshi Kojima vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jushin Liger & El Samurai
The crowd wants Tanahashi and Kojima to start, so they oblige. They trade elbows. That lasts quite a while. Eventually Kojima kicks Tanahashi to gain control. He hits a shoulder tackle. Tanahashi hits a dropkick. Kojima hits another shoulder tackle. Mochizuki hits Samurai with a leg kick. They trade chops. Samurai hits a reverse DDT. Shisa hits Liger with armdrags and a dropkick. He works the arm on the mat. Liger gets to the ropes. He comes back with a backbreaker. He hits the palm strike. He and Samurai hit a double shoulder tackle. Samurai hits a legdrop for 2. Tanahashi hits a pair of backbreakers for 2. He puts on a Boston crab. Shisa gets to the ropes. Liger puts on the Romero Special. When that doesn’t finish Shisa he switches to the pendulum. Samurai hits a piledriver for 2. Shisa ties both masked opponents in an abdominal stretch. Tanahashi makes the save. Shisa hits Liger with a hurricanrana. Mochizuki hits Tanahashi with a Yakuza kick. He hits a chest kick. Three chest kicks later and Tanahashi has had enough. He hits a leaping elbow. He hits a dropkick. Liger hits the palm strike. He hits a powerbomb. Samurai hits a diving headbutt for 2. Tanahashi misses a senton. Kojima hits Machine Gun Chops. Tanahashi fires back in the corner. Kojima hits an elbow and a pair of elbowdrops. He hits a diving elbowdrop for 2. He hits another elbow for 2. Tanahashi hits the Sling Blade. Samurai dropkicks Kojima’s leg. He hits a DDT. He hits a diving headbutt for 2. He puts on the kimura. Mochizuki makes the save. Samurai gets a small package for 2. Mochizuki hits him with the Ikkakugeri. Kojima hits the Koji Cutter for 2. Mochizuki and Shisa hit stereo topés. Samurai gets la magistral on Kojima for 2. Kojima hits a lariat for the win at 14:12. All’s well that ends well, and this was consistent the entire way through. Nothing to go crazy for except the intense exchanges between Tanahashi and Kojima.
